Mapping spaces in real time is a thing!

Meet the Kaarta Contour handheld scanner. It uses LIDAR to achieve accurate 3D mapping.

The Contour resembles an over-sized portable gaming console. It sports a seven-inch touchscreen display positioned in the center, accompanied by two large handles on either side. In front the circular LIDAR pops out, making it possible to scan the space on the go. While reading the room, a 3D image gets mapped on the screen, displaying what seems to look like an above view infrared map of the space and all the objects in it.

Kaarta sets itself apart from other market players by having the ability to do mapping in real time, with no post-processing involved. In the case of the Contour, that means generating a visual of that information on the touchscreen in front of you.
