A $1,600 titanium ‘holographic’ smartphone, anyone interested?

 

RED launches a hydrogen, modular smartphone fitted with a “holographic” 3D display for VR and AR.

Smartphone cameras are getting better by the year, forcing camera companies to stay up to date with their products. Mobile engineers work hard to make these hardware and software improvements a reality. This race for higher specs has lead to some interesting developments. RED, a camera company known for building high-powered cameras, has entered the smartphone realm by launching a new age and somewhat bizarre smartphone.

According to them, the device will ship in Q1 of 2018. A smartphone with what it calls a “holographic” 3D display for VR and AR. There will be two editions, the titanium version with a price tag of $1,595 and a cheaper aluminium build at $1,195 aluminum. Customers will get some extra accessories for those prices, including a USB-C cable and charger and expandable Micro SD card slot.
