Apple’s main supplier of hardware components has announced that it has been hit by a severe virus, apparently damaging most of its production line.
TSMC, which produces chips for most of the high-end mobile devices such as the iPhone, mentioned that they were affected as well and forced to pause manufacturing at their factory in order to evaluate their systems.
It didn’t take them too long to get things up and running again though, 80% of the affected tools and systems have been restored. TSMC communicated an expected delay for shipping orders due to the attack.
