They intent to accomplish this with their new software PoLTE, which will assist logistics and shipments companies track packages and goods more easily. The technology allows for tracking through transmitting information over the air.
Nowadays you need a couple of things in order to use a connected device to track a package, such as determining location via GPS of Wi-Fi signals, and a way to send the data. This solution is very accurate but quite battery hungry. PoLTE’s solution lets you turn data from the cell modem into location information. It works with existing modems and only requires a software update.
